While you can choose from a wide variety of pre-printed baby shower invitations, where you simply write in pertinent details such as the date, time and location of your baby shower, you might need to include more information than is provided for in pre-printed invitation options, or you may desire to send a more personalized or customized baby shower invitation out to your guests.
No matter which option you choose, baby shower invitations typically always include:
- The day, date and time of the baby shower (such as, Monday, December 19th, 2011, from 2-4 p.m.)
- The full name of the expectant parents and hostess (unless everyone on the guest list knows one another by name)
- The location including the full address where the baby shower will be held
And may also include things like:
- Phone number and/or email address invitees can contact to RSVP or get directions or other information
- Any special instructions, such as items you want guests to bring or to be prepared to share at the baby shower
- Where the mother-to-be is registered for gifts, or gift suggestions
- The gender or even the name of the baby on the way (if known and public knowledge)
- A blog, Facebook page or other internet site where guests can RSVP, get gift ideas or sign a virtual guest book
Invitations are usually sent 2-3 weeks prior to the baby shower in order to give invitees enough advance warning to get the event on their calendar, shop for a gift, RSVP, etc. Since baby showers are usually held 4-6 weeks prior to the baby’s due date, that means some advance planning is called for.
